The emergence processes of sphere of activity and collectives tend to resemble certain typical scenarios. The first typical scenario is the densification of networks. Participants come to perceive themselves collectively, and create coordination resources that make the collective and the associated sphere of activity explicit. The second typical scenario is the polarization of participants in relation to similar external ties, and their alignment in a configuration of structural equivalence, leading to reciprocal adjustments that add to or replace direct links with the outside environment. The third typical scenario is the fragmentation of existing spheres as a result of discordance and the activity of “collective entrepreneurs” striving to create more specialized spheres within existing ones.
