Physical Commonsense Reasoning
摘要
Physical commonsense reasoning represents one of the most fundamental yet complex aspects of human cognition. This chapter explores the fascinating intersection of human intuitive physics and artificial intelligence, examining how humans naturally develop and apply physical reasoning from infancy, and why replicating these capabilities in AI systems remains a significant challenge. From dodging a speeding car to predicting the trajectory of a thrown ball, humans demonstrate remarkable physical reasoning abilities that emerge early in development and operate across multiple temporal and spatial scales. Understanding these capabilities and the gap between human and artificial physical reasoning is crucial for advancing both cognitive science and artificial intelligence.
