“Teen” Sense of Place: The Representation of Italian Locations in Teen Television Series
摘要
Scripted TV products for teens and young people have always been present in Italian TV history, although until recently they have not secured a broad viewership or focus in the media industry. Recently, many Italian teen titles have appeared addressing different classic themes of the adolescent universe, such as love, sex, school, friendship, drugs, bullying, and social media dependency. Italian teen dramas are also characterised by the use of places and locations as key features interacting with the plot and bringing out different narration styles and rhetoric of urban and rural territories. This chapter analyses a sample of Italian teen dramas aired or released during the last twenty years and highlights how the use and representation of places have changed over time.
