Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques including machine learning (ML), generative AI (GenAI) with large language models (LLMs) are being used in many applications including in cybersecurity such as malware analysis. Digital forensics is the study of digital crimes and the detection and analysis of the crimes. More recently AI techniques including ML are being applied for forensics applications. Further, the AI systems can also be attacked and therefore such attacks have been analyzed. This chapter examines how AI can be applied for forensics and vice versa. In particular, ML and forensics as well as LLMs and forensics are discussed.

摘要

Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques including machine learning (ML), generative AI (GenAI) with large language models (LLMs) are being used in many applications including in cybersecurity such as malware analysis. Digital forensics is the study of digital crimes and the detection and analysis of the crimes. More recently AI techniques including ML are being applied for forensics applications. Further, the AI systems can also be attacked and therefore such attacks have been analyzed. This chapter examines how AI can be applied for forensics and vice versa. In particular, ML and forensics as well as LLMs and forensics are discussed.
