Automatic Text Mining System Extracts Notes into Quiz (OtoNotes to Quiz)
摘要
Asking questions is a fundamental cognitive process that fosters deeper understanding, critical thinking, and active learning. Artificial intelligence has great potential to revolutionize the education system for digital-native students. This paper describes an application to convert lecture notes written in digital format and translate them into questions by extracting keywords. The keywords are then processed using natural language processing techniques into four types of quizzes: multiple-choice, fill in the blanks, subjective, and true/false questions. This approach aligns with retrieval-based learning, which emphasizes active recall. Studies indicate that digital-native students may struggle with retention when studying on electronic devices. Evaluation with 40 university students suggests that this system enhances engagement and reinforces learning outcomes, providing practical implications for AI-powered quiz generation in education.
