Western universities’ transnational expansion, via distance learning, franchises, and branch campuses, is reshaping how students partner with institutions to co-create learning. This chapter focuses student partnership as the driver of student success, with ethical leadership aligning strategy to education as a public good. We propose a discussion that embeds student voice in governance, assessment, and quality enhancement; the importance of designing curricula that is locally grounded, globally relevant, and linguistically diverse are considered, as are the importance of foregrounding, as part of graduate destinations, clear and enriched links teaching to social mobility and pro-human empowerment. Practical guidance is offered, which includes greater emphasis of shared decision-making with student representatives, co-designed modules and microcredentials, authentic assessment tied to community impact, and transparent value-for-money measures to ensure students feel that their learning is current, relevant and deployable in their future careers and patterns of lifelong learning. The chapter offers actionable steps for UK and other Western institutions to plan and evaluate global ventures that elevate student experience, foster inclusive pedagogy, and deliver equitable outcomes across partner sites.
