In the Global North, education has traditionally been an accumulation of assets, or knowledge, resulting in increased competencies and skills. With recent integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), accessibility and acceleration of learning have increased exponentially. However, this progress has also sometimes led to a ‘normalisation of narcissism’ (Chamorro-Premuzic, 2023). What this means is learners often find themselves isolated in echo chambers, due to the prevalence of social media (Day, 2015). A deterrent to this begins with healthy self-reflection and humility, which help to promote intellectual honesty and curiosity. Pro-human education in the age of AI is possible by centering social development in diverse settings, emotional well-being through reflective practice, and emancipation by reducing power imbalances.
