This chapter examines the rationale for integrated pedagogy from a holistic perspective. Our modern world needs cooperation and collaboration to develop and use innovation. Innovation also entails cultural change. Many major issues span multiple disciplines requiring a variety of perspectives and epistemologies. As a result, universities play a central role in innovation development and cultural change. Disciplinary segregation impedes cooperation and collaboration through competition and division. The origin of disciplinary segregation is outlined through history and philosophy associated with the humanities and sciences. The implication of disciplinary segregation is examined using organizational silos. An organizational silo is any repository of knowledge that cannot be readily shared. Integration offers potential remedies by bridging silos between the sciences and humanities. After defining common types of integration, a short review of the latest literature is provided. Exemplary materials for practitioners are highlighted.
