Making Sustainability our Business: Entre- and Intrapreneurial Activities to Develop new Pathways for a Sustainable Agricultural Sector
摘要
This chapter examines how entrepreneurial and employee-driven (intrapreneurial) innovations can facilitate sustainable transformations in agribusiness. The agri-food sector is under increasing pressure to adopt sustainable practices in an era of environmental, social, and economic challenges. Our review of relevant literature and case studies highlights the importance of integrating ecological, social, and economic dimensions to achieve long-term sustainability. The findings indicate that businesses focused solely on economic efficiency face long-term risks, while those incorporating sustainability practices demonstrate greater resilience and competitive advantages. Employee-driven innovation is identified as a largely untapped resource for fostering sustainability, particularly in the context of agricultural value chains. Additionally, technological advancements such as digitalization and artificial intelligence are recognized as key drivers for innovation within sustainable practices. The study concludes by noting that holistically capturing sustainability while being supported by entrepreneurial activities at all levels is essential for agribusinesses to achieve long-term success in the face of global challenges.
