Overcoming the various impediments to insect conservation introduced in Chap. 1 (Cardoso et al. 2011) is a formidable and continuing task. The editorials and commentary in the foregoing chapters indicate some of the variety of scientific, social and wide-ranging themes that contribute to developing the discipline and are gradually helping to establish it firmly in global conservation practice. They exemplify a range of issues and contexts that can be integrated into future planning.
