The two themes discussed in this chapter may initially appear to have little or no relevance to insect conservation. They deal with two important aspects of human life—recreation and ceremony—whose primary focus is to benefit and celebrate human well-being. However, in doing this, insects are affected in wider contexts and either passively or more directly influenced by human activities. Changes in those activities may influence conservation of insect diversity or individual species, through either habitat and resource availability or ill-considered releases of living insects.

摘要

The two themes discussed in this chapter may initially appear to have little or no relevance to insect conservation. They deal with two important aspects of human life—recreation and ceremony—whose primary focus is to benefit and celebrate human well-being. However, in doing this, insects are affected in wider contexts and either passively or more directly influenced by human activities. Changes in those activities may influence conservation of insect diversity or individual species, through either habitat and resource availability or ill-considered releases of living insects.
