Traditional teaching approaches usually struggle to adapt to and fulfill students’ learning needs and paces. Thus, it is undeniable that a one-size-fits-all model fails to meet each learner’s full potential. Students’ learning styles, speeds, and talents differ; nonetheless, conventional classroom-based education often struggles to accommodate these differences. Consequently, this leads to disengagement and unfulfilled potential. However, the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools provides a breakthrough solution by addressing individualized and personalized learning for students. The purpose of this paper is to explore the reasons and methods university teachers utilize AI to revolutionize education and foster personalized education for learners. To achieve this objective, the study utilized a semi-structured questionnaire to collect data from 257 Moroccan university professors across various institutions within the English department. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 19. Drawing on the results, it was found that university educators have started using AI because they find it effective in boosting students’ engagement, motivation, and outcomes. AI also serves the needs of diverse students; caters to the demands of the twenty-first century; and aligns with their interests, pace, and preferences. On the contrary, some university teachers expressed hesitance toward the utilization of AI owing to concerns about personal data risks, deceptive or inaccurate information, and laziness. The findings propose that while many teachers are optimistic and excited about using AI, others are cautious about the challenges it may present. It should be highlighted that teachers must recognize AI as a tool, not a replacement for their expertise. When adopting AI tools, they should proceed prudently, as these tools might sometimes fail to adapt to ensure a truly individualized and personalized learning experience for all students.
