The Beginnings
摘要
This chapter seeks to explore key concepts in ancient Greek Medicine from the beginning of recorded history. Some key figures in general science are put forward as well as applications to biomedicine. One important distinction that is set out are the three senses of how nature is understood “to be.” These are defined in this historical context, but it is suggested that these categories will be applicable as we progress in examining both the history of general science, but of medicine, in particular.
