Undue influence occurs when there is an unequal power relationship between two people. In this relationship, the one who is stronger or more powerful manipulates the other to do things they might not have otherwise done. They may isolate the weaker person, promote dependency, or induce fear and distrust of others. The manipulator, commonly known as the abuser, tries to convince the vulnerable person that friends, family members, or caregivers have malevolent motives and cannot be trusted.
