VRStory - A Collaborative Virtual Reality Tool for Storyboarding
摘要
As Virtual Reality (VR) continues to evolve, new tools are emerging to make content creation more intuitive and accessible. This research introduces an intuitive storyboarding tool ‘VRStory’ that is designed to create 3D content for VR and enable real-time collaboration in the immersive space. Unlike traditional storyboard methods, i.e., sketching by pen, 2D animations etc., VR allows users to alter and experience narratives within a fully interactive environment. Three key features of VRStory are its collaborative functionality, lighting adjustments and the ease of capturing and manipulating 3D objects to create desired scenes without requiring technical skills. Built based on our experience in developing VR tools for color and lighting representations, VRStory expands the possibilities for accessible VR storytelling by lowering technical barriers and empowering educators and storytellers to create immersive co-creation experiences. In this paper, we will discuss the core principles, explore possible uses, and future developments of VRStory as a powerful storyboarding tool.
