However, there are numerous scenarios where dietary absorption and storage and/or other impacts on its network of hormone regulators (parathyroid hormone (PTH), calcitriol, calcitonin, and FGF23) can be impacted, causing various disturbances and resulting in either hypocalcemia or hypercalcemia.
