What makes a poem ethnographic, and how might poetic form open up new ways of engaging with and writing from ethnographic material? We highlight the importance of concrete detail, rhythm, and careful line work while also attending to the ethical and analytical stakes of writing in verse. We also explore the building blocks of ethnographic storytelling and how stories are assembled. Like poetry, good storytelling requires both attention to craft and openness to the vitality and potential of the material.
