Writing ethnography is both a craft and a process of discovery. We trace the arc from first hesitant drafts to polished texts, exploring how ethnographic writing draws on embodied impressions, how academic genre both shapes and constrains, and how arguments emerge not as prefabricated structures but through iterative, attentive work. Practical strategies—such as establishing routines and separating writing from editing—are paired with reflections on voice and collaboration, as well as the role of feedback. We show how texts take form through careful attention, experimentation, and the persistent act of returning to the page.
