The final objective of the AMAZING project is to provide the community of M’Chouneche, in the Abiod Valley, subject to increasing abandonment and the adverse effects of climate change, with tools for a fair and conscious ecological transition, in which traditional and polytechnic knowledge are mutually enriched and generate a living corpus of practices capable of managing change in a more inclusive, appropriate and effective way. The need to interface with stakeholders (Universities, technicians, and entrepreneurs) and the local community has emerged since the project set-up phase. This contribution will analyse the need to shift the centre of the investigation from the academy to the community and its main motivations, like unveiling European academic and cultural biases and determinants when dealing with the broad concept of Cultural Heritage and the values it conveys. The contribution will outline the methodological approach and the activities designed to activate a community process (community mapping workshop and GIS data management, hints for a future living lab), meant as a structured occasion to express and propose instances, critical issues and prefigure shared solutions and to understand if and how the technology (and therefore cultural) transfers promoted by AMAZING project will take place to be sustainable in the medium to long term.
