As revealed by satellite imagery analysis, the M’Chouneche oasis in Algeria is facing a worrying decline in its vegetative cover. This reduction, particularly significant in the last decade, extends to nearby oases (Ghoufi and Baniane) along the Oued el Aboid River. Preserving and restoring the traditional date palm groves is crucial to prevent the desertification and potential abandonment of the oasis. The study assesses the quality of surface water resources and soil within the oasis to determine their suitability for irrigation and date palm cultivation. Field surveys are conducted to collect water samples from the river and soil samples from the oasis. Water analysis determined its quality and suitability for irrigation using established standards and indicators based on measured chemical quantities. Soil analysis focuses on determining physical and chemical properties for agricultural purposes. This comprehensive data collection is essential for accurately estimating date palm water requirements and optimising water resource management and farming practices.

摘要
