The escalating rate of workplace suicides in the US, particularly within the construction industry, underscores a critical need for comprehensive research and intervention strategies. Despite a notable increase in attention and collaborative efforts, including initiatives such as Construction Suicide Prevention Week, the awareness of risk factors among construction workers remains insufficient. This study aims to address the gaps in existing knowledge by examining the factors related to suicide among construction workers and proposing a theoretical framework integrating the interpersonal-psychological theory of suicide (IPTS) and psychache theory. For future work, the research emphasizes the need for empirical testing of the proposed framework, encouraging collaboration with industry stakeholders, mental health professionals, and relevant organizations.
