Experimental Evaluation of LoRa RSSI Performance in Educational IoT Deployments
摘要
In this work LoRa RSSI performance under five critical parameters pertinent to educational IoT settings: distance variation, physical barriers, wireless interference, elevation, and multinode setups is presented. The results suggest that RSSI exhibits a logarithmic decay with distance, with a substantial decline beyond 100 m. The intensity of the signal is proportional to the density of the material with physical obstructions, with composite panels resulting in the highest attenuation. RSSI remains stable in spread-spectrum environments but appears to have moderate interference from Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and additional LoRa transmissions, illustrating LoRa’s resilience. Multi-node transmission has a minimal effect on RSSI, while elevation offers minimal enhancement. These results underscore the resilience of LoRa and offer valuable insights for the optimization of IoT deployments.
