Building on social interaction and communication theories, this paper delves into the unique contribution of politeness strategies, such as the use of courteous language like ‘please’ and ‘thank you’, in shaping the quality of Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot responses. By contrasting human and AI actions, we explore how positive reinforcement and motivation influence performance in each. A series of experiments were conducted to investigate whether the use of courteous motivational language could enhance AI response quality, akin to its impact in human conversation. This research underscores the importance of incorporating politeness into AI development to enrich user experience and interaction. Furthermore, the paper aims to fill existing gaps in the field by examining the role of Emotional Awareness (EA), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Sentiment analysis in AI and addressing key questions surrounding it.
