Exploring Lean Startup Principles in Bahrain’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem
摘要
Entrepreneurship is about seizing opportunities and reducing uncertainties while attempting to avoiding risk. This aligns with the Lean concept which started long ago, where Lean principles originally developed in manufacturing to eliminate waste and thus improve efficiency and effectiveness. The problem in this research lies in the research gap on the Lean Startup (LS) application, implementation and academia in Bahrain. Still, academic understanding of lean startup is only emerging (Bocken and Snihur in Long Range Planning 53(4):101953, 2020). Thus, according to Beisheim and Langner (2021) the topic requires more research about the lean implementation within organizations. This is quantitative cross-sectional research based on deductive approach. Data collection has been done using structures survey based on previous literature and pretested measures of Lean Startup Orientation (LSO). The Target population included 35 startups in Bahrain, this research applied a convenient sampling method using a structured questionnaire based on previous studies. 280 respondents were targeted with 250 valid responses and 83% response rate. Data was collected and analysed using the Statistical and descripting analytical tools. The Lean Startup Orientation (LSO) activities were found to contribute positively to management practices by deploying the lean methodology and mindset increasing organizations’ success. This research highlighted the importance of creating the culture of experimentation and learning and assessing LSO in startups.
