Shaping Oman’s Sustainable Future: “The Impact of ICT on GHG Emissions and Energy Innovation”
摘要
This study examined the relationship between ICT adoption and GHG emissions to evaluate their sustainability in Oman. It also discusses the future impact of ICT adoption on the GHG emission in Oman. A rigorous econometrics tool was developed using an ICT indicator (mobile cellular subscriptions (MCS), fixed broadband subscriptions (FBS), fixed telephone subscriptions (FTS), and population using the Internet (PUI) from the World Bank data group and Oman telephone regulatory authority from 1975 to 2021. To construct an econometric model, this study used ICT indicators per 100 subscribers as a dependent variable. In contrast, the GHG emission as an independent variables study employs the Johnson Cointegration Model and ARIMA for forecasting. The study revealed that the ICT indicator has a significant positive long-term impact on Oman’s GHG emissions. Even in the Future increased adoption of technologies shows a potential Surge in the emission by 2054, indicating the potential impact of advanced ICT in minimizing environmental sustainability.
