Agro seeds face susceptibility to environmental stressors, which can detrimentally impact seed vigor, crop growth, and productivity. While traditional agrochemical-based treatments can bolster seed germination, they often pose environmental risks. Hence, a pressing need for sustainable alternatives like nano-based agrochemicals. Nano-agrochemicals offer promise in reducing toxicity linked to seed treatment dosage, thus enhancing seed viability and ensuring controlled release of active ingredients. However, their application in field settings prompts concerns regarding nanomaterial safety, exposure levels, and environmental and human health implications. The current chapter delves into the development, scope, challenges, and risk assessments associated with nano-agrochemicals in seed treatment. It also addresses hurdles in implementing nano-agrochemicals, their potential for commercialization, and the necessity for policy regulations to evaluate risks. This pioneering review aims to equip readers with a deeper understanding of emerging nanotechnologies that could revolutionize future seed treatment agrochemical formulations, alongside their scope and associated risks.

摘要
