In 1998 a visionary dreamt a dream of turning academic formal methods into production-ready solutions and off-the-shelf tools applicable for industry. Equipped with this mission, together with some early birds of his university department, he approached this business as part of OSC GmbH, which was founded in 1999. This paper tells the history and the evolution of this quest, and describes the fields in which its products and solutions based on formal methods are integrated in today’s industrial applications.
