Papulosquamous disorders that are discussed in this chapter are three; they are seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, and lichen planus. These are conditions that general medical practitioners, the target audience of this book, need to recognize. Seborrheic dermatitis is prevalent in childhood, and in this chapter, the condition is described in the neonatal period and infancy. Psoriasis is a condition that dermatologists attend to; it runs a chronic course but still needs to get to the specialists as soon as possible after the patient reports the initial features. Getting a typical dermatologist’s attention is usually by a referral by the primary care physician. How will the patient take themselves to these few and busy specialists if the patient does not go to the hospital soon after observing the signs of psoriasis; or if they observe the signs and consult the general practitioner, but the general practitioner does not make a provisional diagnosis, or do a prompt referral?
