International Law Between Enhanced Anthropocentrism and Post-anthropocentrism: The Need for an International Treaty on Bio-technological Ethics

Enhanced anthropocentrism or in other words transhumanism and post-anthropocentrism have entered the forefront of technological, philosophical and legal discourse. Whether we are talking about the potential evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) itself to higher forms of intelligence and autonomy, or about the development of a number of biotechnologies, the self-evident to this day anthropocentrism of our societies and law as well as the dominant approaches about what it means to be human enter a phase of transformation with the prospects of enhancement and post-anthropocentrism looming.
