Service Robots for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) Management: A Systematic Review and Disruptive Design

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a serious disease that harms a patient’s organ and sometimes causes death. The research investigates new technologies addressing SLE including Artificial Intelligence (AI), service robots and mobile applications. We offered a systematic literature review on service robots for SLE management and proposed a novel conceptual framework using service robots with AI to enhance current treatment conditions grounded on the reviews. Current publications show AI-based SLE detection works accurately, and mobile applications are used to help with SLE management and improve SLE patients’ experiences. However, there is limited work on AI mobile applications for SLE detection and management, let alone the use of service robots for SLE care. To let service robots enhance the effectiveness and experience of SLE prevention and management in more scenarios, and provide companionship and continuous services, the framework uses service robots in patients’ homes or hospitals for patient caring and service robots in hospitals for doctors and nurses, which are both connected to the server to perform SLE and health data analysis and management with AI using Reinforcement Learning, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) or Artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithm, and Neural Image Captioning (NIC) to manage and prevent deterioration of SLE.
