Slovenská elektrizačná prenosová sústava, a.s. in cooperation with Západoslovenská distribučná, a.s., Vodohospodárska výstavba š.p. and Slovenské elektrárne a.s. carried out a successful test of starting from dark in 2022. The provider of the support service (PpS) “Start from Dark” was the Gabčíkovo hydroelectric power plant. The voltage from the Gabčíkovo hydro power plant was fed to the own consumption of the Bohunice nuclear power plant. During the test, the start-up of all types of appliances of the nuclear power plant's own consumption necessary for its start-up was carried out. For the start-up of the nuclear power plant, process steam is required, which is generated by an electric boiler, which was also part of the test.
