Patent Foramen Ovale Closure
摘要
A PFO is a frequently observed benign condition in healthy individuals; however, its prevalence is elevated among patients experiencing strokes of unknown origin (cryptogenic stroke). PFO is thought to contribute to stroke risk via paradoxical embolism. Recent studies indicate that closing a PFO—particularly when it is linked to an ASA and/or a significant interatrial shunt—may lower the likelihood of recurrent strokes. This chapter summarizes the latest advancements in PFO device closure.
