Before stent deployment, vessel preparation using dedicated equipment—guided by intracoronary imaging findings—is essential. Intracoronary imaging should be readily available in every catheterization lab, as stent under-expansion is an independent predictor of myocardial infarction, target lesion revascularization, and mortality.
