Calcific AS is the most prevalent acquired valve disorder in the Western world. For patients with severe symptomatic AS who do not undergo definitive intervention, the prognosis is poor, with a mean survival of 3 years following the onset of angina or syncope and 2 years after the development of heart failure. ABV serves as a palliative treatment to alleviate symptoms and can act as a bridge to more definitive interventions, such as surgical valve replacement or TAVI, particularly in hemodynamically unstable patients. Additionally, any form of LVOTO during pregnancy is considered high risk. In such cases, ABV can be a life-saving intervention for pregnant individuals with symptomatic severe AV stenosis.
