Congenital isolated PS represents 5%–10% of all congenital heart defects. In most cases, the stenosis results from the fusion of commissures, which causes the valve leaflets to “dome” and leads to a narrowed annulus. Most adult patients with chronic stenosis exhibit infundibular hypertrophy and post-stenotic dilation. Currently, balloon valvuloplasty is the preferred treatment for individuals with severe stenosis or those who are symptomatic. Long-term studies indicate that outcomes between PTPC and surgical intervention are comparable, with minimal complications reported.
