Fuzzy logic theory has been used in different areas of study over the years, starting in engineering and science in the first place, being a crucial part of industrial control and automation. These kinds of theories allow us to transmit human perceptions into computational or electronic systems in real processes. This paper presents the terms and concepts of interval type-3 fuzzy logic (IT3FS) and its application in the dynamic parameter tuning of the fuzzy harmony search algorithm (IT3-FHS) applied to the optimization of mathematical reference functions. The results obtained are shown and a comparison with other existing methods is made in order to validate the efficiency of the proposed method.
