In the daily discourse and practice of the local people, as well in the rituals and practices at the faith level, people’s understanding of Qi still belongs to the attributes of specific aspects of it. However, these different aspects can be combined into a whole concept and understanding of Qi for us. In fact, through my field investigation, the holistic concept and practice of Qi exists in people’s festival activities. In festival ceremonies, people’s worship of themselves, heaven, earth, soul, and all things in the world explain the understanding of Qi and the ideal of controlling Qi from a holistic perspective. The main content of this chapter is, first, a comprehensive description of local festival activities and rituals and, second, an exploration of these activities to discover the wholeness of Qi and gain additional knowledge about performance and ritual.
