As a large international media art archive with a 25-year online presence, the Archive of Digital Art (ADA, www.digitalartarchive.at ) is an important source of information in the scientific community. The archive’s collaborative approach is unique, with artists, scholars, curators, and institutions from around the world directly providing data on a community-orientated platform. A special gatekeeping system and the work of the editorial team guarantee the quality of the archival contributions from this large international community. From 2020 to the beginning of 2024, ADA has been significantly expanded at the University for Continuing Education Krems in Austria, taking into account future-oriented developments in archiving. In addition, ADA supported the international networking of media art archives. Important aspects of the archive relaunch and the networking initiatives are explained and contextualized in this paper. They are examples of how media art documentation and art documentation in general can be made more participatory and lively.

Participatory Media Art Documentation: The Relaunch of the Archive of Digital Art (ADA)
