Hydraulic Circuit Design for the Study of Vascular Problems
摘要
Atherosclerosis is a disease that afflicts millions of people worldwide, causing heart attacks and strokes. The factors contributing to the formation of atherosclerotic lesions are numerous: haemodynamic factors are particularly relevant as they determine the distribution of atherosclerotic lesions and the development of vascular plaques. However, the role of these factors is not yet fully understood. Conventionally, the bifurcation models studied so far neglect the study of some characteristics observed instead in real arteries. Due to the strong correlation that exists between the sites where atherosclerotic phenomena occur and those with haemodynamic variations, most researches are based precisely on the study of blood flow in bifurcations, junctions and grafts of human arteries.
