This chapter, based on (La Bella G (2015–16) Il rumore aerodinamico. Simulazioni numeriche con la formulazione di FW-H per lo studio del rumore di generatori eolici, Tesi di Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Medica, Università di Roma Tor Vergata, A.A), studies the aerodynamic noise associated with wind turbines with the use of numerical simulations. After introducing the topic of environmental noise, its main sources are analysed and the effects on human health remarked. The characteristics of the human auditory system are summarised. Subsequently, a discussion on the basics of acoustics is carried on, with particular attention to the study of ideal noise sources and the units of sound measurement.
