Navigating the Digital Frontier: Africa’s Transformation in the Age of Innovation
摘要
This introductory chapter situates Africa’s digital transformation within the lived experiences of consumers, emphasizing the emotional, cultural, and generational dimensions of digital engagement. Moving beyond infrastructure and access, the chapter offers a human-centered perspective that challenges traditional notions of technology adoption in emerging markets. Through vivid narrative, conceptual synthesis, and practical framing, the chapter introduces how trust, emotion, friction, and cultural relevance shape digital behavior across African contexts. It introduces key theoretical adaptations—including emotion-infused extensions of TAM, SERVQUAL, and digital trust models—while highlighting the continent’s distinct trajectory of mobile-led, consumer-driven innovation. Designed to engage scholars, practitioners, and policymakers alike, this chapter reframes Africa not as a passive recipient of global technology, but as an active contributor to new paradigms of consumer experience and platform interaction. It also outlines the book’s thematic flow, providing a roadmap through chapters that move from mobile transformation to AI interfaces, social media expression, and consumer activism. The introduction sets the tone for a volume that is accessible yet rigorous, grounded in local realities yet globally relevant, and unapologetically centered on African consumers as agents of digital change.
