Jason Reynolds’ Long Way Down engages West Philly seventh graders participating in the Big Book Club in Life Histories centered around the larger societal problem of gun violence. Ninth graders from West Philly also engage with prominent societal issues in Reynolds and Kiely’s All American Boys.
