In the face of the politicisation of the right and the popularity of nationalist, traditionalist, misogynist, anti-women and anti-LGBTI+ politics both locally and globally, the agenda of the labouring classes need be determined by political organisation beyond right politicized identity politics and away from nationalist-conservative practices. The sphere of struggle must be established on the basis of demands for the equality and justice and the rights and freedoms of the labour class, Kurds, women, youth, LGBTI+ citizens and Alevis, etc – that is, all excluded and oppressed segments. And the nurturing and maintenance of this sphere, ever demanding and redemanding equality and justice and rights and freedoms, in bold opposition to neoliberalism’s demands of Turkey and in the world beyond, is the only way forward for the opposition alliance and the only future for democracy.
