Problematising the Critical-Liberal Approaches: Regime or Form
摘要
In the four sections of this chapter will be problematised both these updated concepts of the critical-liberal approaches and their practical implications for contemporary politics in Turkey. It will be illustrated that both the political-economic, social and ideological continuities of the 40-year-long history of neoliberalism and the actual ruptures in the state form transformation during the AKP’s single-party rule are being ignored. Reaching beyond, to the knowledge gained through these continuing discussions, alternative lines of research need be put forth by focusing on the various roots, dynamics and relations of current authoritarianism. Finally, this chapter argues that there are fundamental methodological and epistemological drawbacks behind the critical-liberal approaches and suggest an open-Marxist analysis as an alternative, extended to offer a relational explanation.
