The Theoretical Roots of the Critical-Liberal Approaches: Prevailing Master Narratives
摘要
In order to understand current analyses on authoritarianism, it is crucial to ask how the liberal and sociological approaches, which is called as prevailing master narratives, deal with state–society–economy relations and what social needs they respond to. For this reason, chapter four opens this part with the main arguments of these prevailing master narratives on the relations between the state, society and the economy, arguments which the criticalliberal approaches in Turkey also follow. Although in terms of their theoretical contributions these approaches—in the development of capitalist relations—have focused on different problems and followed different theoretical and methodological lines, the prevailing master narratives that are embodied in their combination form the main ideological trajectory—providing legitimacy—in the process of the restructuring of capitalist social relations.
