Ensuring food security, combating climate change, and restoring ecological functionality will be key challenges for the well-being of the living world, even in the near future. These challenges can be managed and mitigated through effective ecosystem management, which enhances the status of land, water, animals, and plants. For sustainable management of these components, carbon farming—particularly within the agroforestry framework—can be a valuable approach. Carbon farming involves agricultural practices that sequester atmospheric carbon dioxide and deposit it in natural carbon sinks. Agroforestry, on the other hand, is the deliberate integration of crops, livestock, and trees into traditional agricultural landscapes. When combined, these two concepts create a synergistic approach in which ecosystems mitigate climate change, increase crop yields, preserve biodiversity, and improve soil health, while also serving as carbon sinks and atmospheric purifiers. The agroforestry framework supports the implementation of various carbon farming practices such as tree planting, no-till cropping, mulching, cover cropping, biochar application, crop rotation, and rotational grazing. Proper planning at each stage—from land and plant selection to product consumption—is crucial for the success of this system. Additionally, innovative strategies for promoting carbon farming in agroforestry should be researched and applied at the field level. This chapter explores the practical implementation of carbon farming practices within the agroforestry framework, offering detailed guidance on land and plant selection, management strategies, and the overall benefits to ensure the widespread adoption and success of this transformative approach.
