In this chapter, the teacher’s framework and governing tools (resources) for the teaching process are addressed. It is with these tools and resources, namely, the curriculum, the lesson plan, the instructional methods, teaching resources and aids, that a teacher can develop and implement teaching as desired or intended. The chapter will also discuss the different aspects and dynamics involved in the process of planning for teaching and managing the teaching process, as well as the relationship between teacher and students, their place and role in the teaching–learning process. Elements central to managing the teaching process such as motivation, interest, teacher abilities and attributes are also taken up and discussed in the chapter. Overall, the chapter seeks to equip the chemistry teacher (trainee) with a knowledge base for effective planning, implementation and management of the teaching process within a pre-planned working framework.
