In this chapter, foundational concepts and historical context of belief change are introduced, providing a comprehensive overview of its evolution and significance. The seminal AGM model is critically examined, highlighting its revolutionary impact across disciplines such as philosophy, artificial intelligence, and cognitive science. Additionally, this chapter highlights key limitations of the AGM model and briefly discusses some extensions and generalizations of the model.
