In this concluding section of the volume, we provide a short synoptic reading of the book chapters, with the aim of identifying some recurring trends, and put them in relation to the big picture of contemporary media landscape in Europe. Implications of the considered trends in terms of Europeanity are also discussed, especially in respect of the tension between the top-down, institutional, and regulatory approach to Europeanization and the bottom-up way to it, which is still largely to be explored. Agency, values, trust, and discourse struggles—in their specific connections with the platformization process—will be singled out as relevant dimensions to be considered for future studies in the field of European media ecosystems.
