This chapter presents research from two years of studying the integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) within the teaching and learning environment in a higher education setting. Previous literature highlights the need for changes to teaching practices when incorporating sustainable development when teaching and a bottom-up approach, but there is little on the changes that are effective. This study has focused on changes to postgraduate student learning, as well as the opportunity to change teaching practices, receive student feedback and implement further adaptations where necessary. Through student focus groups and interviews, as well as interviews with the community and teaching practitioners, the study offers student insights of sustainable development, in addition to insights of teaching practices that include real-life scenarios, the incorporation of the local community and changes to assessment.

摘要
